What is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth is also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day. The holiday is observed on June 19 every year celebrating when President Abraham Lincoln signed into law the Emancipation Proclamation freeing enslaved African Americans back on Jan 1st 1863. On June 17, 2021 President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law making it an official federal holiday. Juneteenth is also a state holiday observed in 29 states and D.C.

When people think of feng shui they usually don’t think of cultural revolutions. However, feng shui was born out of cultural revolution, politics and war in ancient China. The compass that everyone uses was created by feng shui masters. It was used by the Yellow Emperor to unify China, similar to our civil war.
Juneteenth and the History of Nashville, TN.
During 1862 of the Civil War, the Union Army built Fort Negley in Nashville, TN. It took about three thousand free and enslaved African American laborers to construct it to fight the confederate army which assisted the Union army to win the war and emancipate the slaves in 1863. Eventually the freed slaves created thriving neighborhoods like Edgehill, Edgefield, and Jefferson Street.
As in war, like feng shui, the fortunes of countries, forts, homes and offices are directly impacted by their locations and environments.
Now, Fort Negley Park is a place where people come together to learn from our history, celebrate it and honor those who died building the Fort on Juneteenth.
